Metric fasteners require a pre-tapped thread in the counterpart. The time-consuming, expensive preparation (countersinking, cutting, cleaning the thread) can be avoided in ductile metal materials through the use of b&m FORM®. This direct screwing solution creates a metric thread in components made of materials such as aluminum, steel, magnesium, or even zinc. b&m-FORM® serves as a tool and fastener all in one.
Unlike conventional direct screwing solutions that are “trilobular” in design, the b&m-FORM® features a circular thread cross section. This structure, combined with fully formed thread flanks, allows for maximum flank coverage and therefore high stripping torque. The thread geometry of b&m-FORM® ensures a reliable and easy screw insertion processes, even under challenging conditions.
