At the 18th edition of the Classic Gala in the picturesque baroque garden of Schwetzingen Castle, 160 historic automobiles were in the spotlight from September 2 to 4 – including 14 special classic cars manufactured in Ober-Ramstadt in the 1920s and 1930s: jewels of the brand Röhr. The Odenwald appearance in Baden-Württemberg was excellently received by the jury panel of 25 international experts. Eleven Röhr vehicles won one of the rare honorary plaques. The Röhr 8 type RA, built in 1930 and provided by the Würth Group subsidiary baier & michels (b&m), was even awarded as one of the most outstanding vehicles (vintages 1919 to 1930) of the entire classic car festival.
Jörg Pohl, Chief technical Officer of the screw manufacturer located in the Rohrbach district of Ober-Ramstadt, commented: “The mere participation in an event where the world’s most beautiful and valuable classic vehicles are on stage is something exciting. Now to have won this award makes all of us at b&m enormously proud.” As a fastening technology supplier with 500 employees in eight countries working primarily for the automotive industry, b&m sees itself in the tradition of Röhr. „The brand stood for innovation and high-quality products, and we are building on this with our philosophy. “
The Röhr event in Schwetzingen was accompanied by car specialist and book author Werner Schollenberger from the “Freunde Historischer Fahrzeuge Ober-Ramstadt” association. Speaking about the significance of the Classic-Gala, Schollenberger says: “As the only independent international Concours d’Elegance in Germany, the event offers automotive rarities from all decades. In addition to Röhr, the 2022 attractions included examples from Carrozzeria Bertone and design gems from Cadillac, as well as vehicles from traditional brands such as Mercedes, BMW and NSU.”
