The evidence-based EcoVadis ratings take into account 21 criteria in these four areas: Environment, Sustainable Procurement, Ethics and Labor & Human Rights. The focus is on international standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact and the ISO 26000 guidelines. Laura Göbel, Corporate Sustainability Manager at b&m Group, comments on the results of the EcoVadis scoring: “Overall, we are among the top 15 percent of players in the metalworking industry.”
Laura Göbel considers b&m to be on the right track: “We will continue to implement measures at all eight locations worldwide in order to improve our score.” Today, b&m is achieving points “by increasingly using green electricity, establishing the resource-conserving b&m-ECCO TEC® manufacturing process and also increasing the number of plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles within the company fleet”.
Hansjörg Koroschetz, Managing Director at b&m, adds: “Intelligent sustainability management not only supports operational efficiency by promoting aspects such as resource optimization or employee satisfaction. It also helps to minimize the ecological footprint and the risks related to environmental impacts. As a member of the Würth Group, we want to pioneer this approach.”
