To this end, baier & michels is increasingly focusing on the use of solar cells and the conversion of sunlight into electrical energy at its corporate headquarters in Ober-Ramstadt in southern Hessen. Since March 2019, a photovoltaic (PV) system has been in operation on the roof of one of the factory halls; the 757 modules cover an area of around 1,400 m²; under ideal solar conditions, they can generate 103,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of solar power per year. « With the solar intensity in Ober-Ramstadt, we currently produce more than 80,000 kWh, which corresponds to about twelve percent of our electricity consumption, » explains Steffen Redlingshöfer, Head of Quality and responsible for the topic of environment, health and safety at b&m.
